Hi everyone!
This is my first post to give updates on the current Hamline Elementary Mural and community outreach!
The first stage of our project has been working with the students in the classroom to help them understand what it takes to create a mural and to get them engaged with their community. I've been working directly in the classroom with the most amazing students in 3rd -5th grade. They were given the prompt to consider their school and community and what kinds of images come to mind. They were given freedom to create images that they might want to see on the outside of their school representing who they are.
Above you can see some of their ideas! Now that we've been brainstorming, it's time for the next step. We are going to be starting up again in late May to create actual full scale mural images on tag board using a grid system based off of their drawings.
